HNCS HDR Visual Highlights

Expanding on HNCS technology, the X2D II 100C’s HNCS HDR utilizes high dynamic range to amplify Hasselblad’s renowned natural color rendering with striking brilliance. Even under intense lighting, it minimizes overexposure while preserving intricate detail. HDR images can be viewed instantly on the integrated 1400-nit touchscreen or on supported MacBook Pro models. Prefer SDR? Switching modes is seamless via the camera settings.

Learn More About HNCS HDR

The acclaimed Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) takes a leap forward in the X2D II 100C with enhanced high dynamic range technology. This end-to-end HNCS HDR workflow delivers imagery that mirrors the way your eyes naturally perceive the world—rich, nuanced, and true to life.

Elevating Hasselblad’s Signature Tones Through HDR

Conventional HDR methods often prioritize dynamic optimization. They lift shadows and compressing highlights to preserve detail. While effective, this approach can diminish contrast and flatten tonal depth, compromising the very qualities that give photographs their emotional resonance.

Hasselblad engineers saw the need for a fundamentally different strategy to master highlight reproduction.

To unlock HDR’s true potential, the X2D II 100C expands beyond the sRGB color space into the broader P3 gamut. Paired with a new imaging system boasting 1400-nit peak brightness—a 75% increase over previous models—these innovations unleash the full capabilities of the medium-format sensor, revealing subtle highlight details that would otherwise remain hidden.

After three years of dedicated development, Hasselblad introduces HNCS HDR. This transformative solution elevates the brand’s iconic natural color rendering with the expanded depth of high dynamic range. It also preserves the trusted color science photographers rely on, whether shooting in HDR or SDR.

Highlights at Every Creative Stage

With the Hasselblad X2D II 100C, HNCS HDR brilliance carries through every stage of your workflow. From capture to playback to post-processing, the experience remains seamless. The camera produces HDR HEIF or Ultra HDR JPEG files directly. These can be viewed instantly on the built-in touchscreen, which reaches a peak brightness of 1400 nits.

Phocus Mobile 2 extends this capability. In addition to viewing and editing HDR images from the X2D II 100C, the app applies HNCS HDR processing to RAW files from the X2D 100C, X1D II 50C, CFV 100C, and CFV II 50C. When shared on HDR-compatible platforms, these images reveal the full brilliance of HNCS HDR. Colours and tones appear with exceptional depth and fidelity.

100 MP CMOS Sensor

10 Stops

The Pinnacle of Stabilization in Modern Imaging ³

8x

Greater than X2D 100C Stabilisation

Stabilization performance is now increased up to 8 times ⁶ greater than that of the X2D 100C when capturing distant subjects. The advanced 5-axis, 10-stop IBIS ¹ system allows handheld shooting for several seconds ⁷, all while keeping images crisp and clear. Long exposures are now possible without a tripod. Flowing traffic, running water, and other motion-filled scenes can be captured with precision and stability.

Learn More About The Innovation

Flawless Accuracy Without Trade-Offs

The exceptional resolution of the 100 MP medium format sensor calls for equally advanced stabilization.

Hasselblad engineers reimagined the entire stabilization system. This includes the hardware, internal structure, and image processing algorithms. The result is 5-axis, 10-stop in body image stabilization ¹ brought to the X2D II 100C. All of this is achieved while preserving the compact form factor photographers rely on.

The Highest, Most Uncompromising Calibration Standards

Every X2D II 100C is individually calibrated over a dedicated two-hour process, following Hasselblad’s most rigorous protocols. For this model, engineers applied Hasselblad's highest internal standards. Through pixel-level calibration, they achieved an exceptional 0.1 pixel control precision.

The system uses precision gyroscopes and accelerometers capable of detecting motion as subtle as 0.001 degrees. Hasselblad conducted extensive field research, studying camera shake patterns across a wide range of age groups. This data informed the refinement of stabilization algorithms for real-world shooting conditions. An advanced electronic compass also compensates for Earth’s rotation*, ensuring consistent performance across the globe.
