Fly Safer with Obstacle Sensing

Equipped with rotating LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar, the Obstacle Sensing Module [4] for the Matrice 4D/4TD enables precise, 12mm wire-level obstacle avoidance at speeds up to 15 m/s during complex power line crossings, while also improving positioning in low-light environments. [5] This advanced technology ensures operational safety across diverse power distribution networks and intricate substation layouts. [15]

Crystal Clear Precision, Day or Night

Excels in Low-Light Environments

Featuring four high-resolution, low-light fisheye lenses, the Matrice 4D Series significantly improves [11] visual positioning and obstacle detection in dim environments. Furthermore, a newly integrated Night Scene mode provides operators with vivid, full-color night vision for after-dark missions.

Designed specifically for continuous 24/7 use, the Matrice 4TD model advances these capabilities with an IR-Cut Filter for crisp black-and-white imaging and a new NIR auxiliary light reaching up to 100 meters. [10] It also features an advanced infrared thermal camera, offering a High-Res mode for accurate temperature readings alongside a UHR Infrared Image mode capable of resolutions up to 1280 × 1024.

Clear, Stable Images

To ensure stable and highly detailed imagery, the Matrice 4D Series utilizes medium tele and tele cameras equipped with robust foreground stabilization. Designed specifically for medium-range efficiency, the medium tele camera effortlessly detects fine cracks or pins from a 10-meter distance and captures crystal-clear instrument data during complex substation inspections. [16]

Delivering exceptional long-range visibility, the 48 MP tele camera effortlessly captures fine details from up to 250 meters away, backed by upgraded stabilization that keeps foreground subjects perfectly sharp at 10x zoom or greater. [17] The Matrice 4TD also excels in complex vertical inspections; when hovering in windless conditions, its gimbal can tilt upwards by a full 80 degrees to reveal hidden defects on the undersides of bridges with outstanding clarity.

Overcome Rugged Terrain with Seamless Airborne Relays

Capable of standalone operation via the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise controller, the Matrice 4D Series utilizes an advanced onboard relay function. This allows one drone to maintain a high altitude and act as a signal relay, extending the operational reach of a second drone. The relay unit automatically tracks and faces the active drone, [5] ensuring seamless video feeds in obstructed areas or environments lacking 4G networks. [19] This extended transmission capability makes the system highly effective for mountain inspections and SAR operations.

****To ensure steady and continuous performance, please perform regular equipment maintenance.

2. The DJI Dock 3 features an IP56 rating, while the DJI Matrice 4D/4TD is IP55 rated. These ratings were achieved under controlled laboratory conditions with the dock’s distribution cabinet door closed and all screws securely tightened. Please note that IP protection is not permanent and can degrade over time due to normal wear and tear.

4. Sold separately.

5. Requires updating to the most recent firmware.

7. D indicates the measurement distance.

8. This feature is exclusive to the Matrice 4TD. To prevent permanent sensor damage, never expose the infrared camera lenses to intense energy sources such as direct sunlight, lava, or laser beams, which can cause irreversible burn damage.

9. Available exclusively on the Matrice 4TD, the NIR auxiliary light provides the optimal illumination required by the telephoto camera.

10. Measured while the drone hovered at an altitude of 100 meters with the telephoto camera actively capturing images.

11. Compared against DJI Dock 2 (Matrice 3D/3TD).

13. Measured in a controlled environment under the following conditions: flying forward at a constant speed of 12 m/s in a windless laboratory setting (20 meters above sea level), configured in photo mode (with no photos taken during flight), and with Obstacle Avoidance disabled. Testing was conducted continuously from 100% down to 0% battery. Real-world results may vary based on environmental factors, actual usage, and firmware versions.

14. Measured under controlled conditions with the DJI Matrice 4D series hovering in a windless environment at 20 meters above sea level, testing continuously from 100% down to 0% battery. Actual performance may vary depending on environmental factors, real-world usage, and firmware versions.

15. Complimentary official repair is available if an obstacle avoidance failure causes a collision that damages the drone or its Obstacle Sensing Module. This coverage is strictly contingent upon the following: the module was correctly installed, the aircraft was flying autonomously on a preset path, all systems (including radar and LiDAR) were operating normally, a strong GNSS signal was maintained, and weather conditions were clear.

This coverage is void if the collision involves:

      • (1) Fast-moving hazards such as active wind turbines, moving cranes, or birds;
      • (2) Environmental factors like rain, snow, fog, or dust;
      • (3) Obstacles positioned inside the module's blind spot (as defined in the User Manual);
      • (4) Fine wires or branches under 12 mm in diameter, or vertical flights adjacent to slanting wires;
      • (5) Legal or geopolitical radar restrictions active in the operational region; or
      • (6) An Obstacle Sensing Module that is past its warranty expiration date.

16. Measured under standard lighting at a horizontal distance of 10 meters from the subject with a direct line of sight.

17. Captured with the telephoto camera directly aligned with the subject.

18. To better serve urban mapping requirements, future updates will continuously refine and optimize flight routes and mapping solutions for urban environments.

19. Maintain an unobstructed line of sight between the remote controller, the relay aircraft, and the operational aircraft. Please note that strong electromagnetic interference can reduce the maximum video transmission range.
