DJI AP100 Parachute Technical Specifications

Basic Function

Dimensions 182×171×157 mm (L×W×H) (with bracket)
Weight

Approx. 935 g (with bracket)

Max Supported Takeoff Weight

15.8 kg

Operating Temperature

-20° to 50° C (-4° to 122° F)

Operating Altitude

0 to 4500 m

Ingress Protection Rating

IP55

The IP55 rating was measured under controlled conditions. Please refer to the official IP55 instructions for proper usage. Note that environmental protection is not permanent and may degrade over time due to normal wear and tear.

Stabilized Descent Speed

≤ 5 m/s

Measurements were recorded at a max takeoff weight of 15.8 kg in a windless, 25°C (77°F) environment at altitudes between 30 and 500 m. This is reference data only; actual results may differ depending on environmental factors, usage, and firmware updates.

Effective Deployment Altitude

≥ 30 m

The AP100 Parachute’s minimum effective altitude is 30 m, the distance needed to inflate and reduce the descent rate to below 5 m/s. Deploying below 30 m will eject the parachute, but may not sufficiently slow the aircraft. Auto-deployment may not trigger in all situations, so manual activation may be necessary; please operate with caution. Visit the product page for full trigger conditions.

This 30 m baseline was tested at a 15.8 kg max takeoff weight in a windless, 25°C (77°F) environment under 500 m. This data is for reference only; actual results will vary depending on your environment, operations, and firmware.

Automatic Deployment Response Time

≤ 600 ms

Tested in a controlled laboratory setting with the DJI Matrice 400 hovering and propellers active. This time interval measures the complete deployment sequence: from the initial Flight Termination System (FTS) signal, to the confirmed stopping of all rotors, concluding with the electrical signal that triggers the gas generator. This data is for reference only; actual performance may vary based on environmental conditions, operational usage, and firmware version.

Canopy Material

Nylon

Manual Deployment

Supports Manual Deployment via App and FTS Deployment*

FTS Deployment via DJI FlightHub 2 is available in the following locations: all EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden), as well as the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Serbia, and Georgia. To access the Flight Termination System (FTS) interface, please visit the DJI Flight Termination System (FTS) website.

Automatic Deployment

Supports Automatic Deployment triggered by flight anomalies or Geocaging**

Auto-Deployment Exceptions: While the parachute automatically deploys during abnormal flight behavior, this feature is disabled near the Home Point to prevent collateral damage. It will not auto-deploy if:

Standard Operation: The aircraft is within 10 m horizontally and +/- 15 m vertically of the Home Point.

Cleaning Mode: The aircraft is within 10 m horizontally and up to +15 m vertically of the Home Point.

** Geocaging Supported Regions: Available in the UK, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Georgia, and all EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden).

Advanced Function

Audible and Visual Alarms

After deployment, the alarm will sound for approximately one hour*. You can manually silence it at any time by pressing the physical button on the parachute.

*Measured at 25°C (77°F) with the parachute either in its original factory state or connected to the aircraft for at least 30 minutes of flight time per month. This data is provided for reference only; actual results may vary based on environmental conditions, usage, and firmware version.

Backup Power Duration

Approx. 1 hour

These measurements were gathered at 25°C (77°F) using a factory-new parachute, or one that meets the monthly maintenance requirement of 30+ minutes of connected flight time. Please use this data for reference purposes only, as actual field results will depend on your specific environment, usage habits, and firmware versions.

Self-Check
Provides continuous monitoring of the gas generator and communication links, delivering real-time alerts directly through the DJI Pilot 2 Health Management System (HMS).
Independent FTS
Independent control and rotor stop links
