Frame Based LiDAR

Significant Range Enhancement

The L2 has the ability to detect objects from a range of 250 meters under conditions of 10% reflectivity and 100 klx [3], extending all the way up to 450 meters when confronted with 50% reflectivity and 0 klx conditions [3]. Furthermore, the standard operational altitude has been elevated to 120 meters, significantly bolstering both operational safety and efficiency.

Increased Point Cloud Density

Featuring a smaller spot size measuring 4×12 cm at 100 meters, which is only a fifth of L1's spot size, the L2 excels in detecting smaller objects with enhanced detail. Additionally, it possesses the capability to penetrate denser vegetation, resulting in the creation of more precise Digital Elevation Models (DEMs).

5 Returns Support

In densely vegetated regions, the L2 has the capability to capture a greater number of ground points beneath the foliage.

240,000 pts/s Point Cloud Rate

In both single and multiple return modes, the L2 can achieve a maximum point cloud emission rate of 240,000 points per second. This enables the acquisition of a larger volume of point cloud data within a given time frame.

Dual Scanning Mode

The L2 provides support for two distinct scanning modes, offering users flexibility based on their specific task requirements. In the repetitive scanning mode, the L2's LiDAR excels at generating uniform and precise point clouds, meeting the demands of high-precision mapping.

Conversely, in the non-repetitive scanning mode, it offers enhanced penetration for capturing more structural information, rendering it suitable for tasks such as power line inspection, forestry surveying, and other similar scenarios.

Frame Based Design

The frame-based design translates into an efficient point cloud data rate that can reach up to 100%. When coupled with a three-axis gimbal, it opens up a wider range of possibilities for various surveying scenarios.

High-Accuracy IMU System

The high-precision, developed in-house IMU system, working in tandem with the drone's RTK positioning system for data integration during post-processing, grants the L2 access to exceedingly precise absolute position, speed, and attitude data. Furthermore, the IMU system's improved adaptability to varying environmental conditions enhances the operational reliability and precision of the L2.

No-IMU Warm-up

The performance of the IMU system has undergone substantial improvement, and it is operational immediately upon powering on. Furthermore, the accompanying drone is prepared to commence tasks promptly once the RTK system achieves FIX status, ensuring an optimized in-field experience.

RGB MAPPING CAMERA

4/3 CMOS with Mechanical Shutter The pixel size has been increased to 3.3 μm, and the effective pixel count has now reached 20 MP, leading to a substantial enhancement in overall image quality and providing more detailed true-color point cloud data. Additionally, the minimum photo capture interval has been reduced to just 0.7 seconds. The mapping camera boasts an impressive shutter life of up to 200,000 actuations, contributing to lower operational expenses. Even when point cloud collection is not required, the RGB camera can still capture photos and videos, or gather images for visible light mapping purposes.

DJI RC Plus Point Cloud Live View

Point Cloud LiveView

While in operation, DJI Pilot 2 offers three display modes - RGB, point cloud, and point cloud/RGB side-by-side display, providing operational outcomes in an intuitive manner. Enabling the RNG (Laser Rangefinder) feature provides distance information between the LiDAR module and the object at the center of the Field of View (FOV), elevating flight safety. Additionally, it supports four real-time point cloud coloring modes: Reflectivity, Height, Distance, and RGB.

Automatically Generated Task Quality Report

Following the collection of point cloud data, the DJI Pilot 2 app will automatically generate a Task Quality Report. This feature allows operators to promptly review operational outcomes on-site and in real-time, contributing to a more agile and stress-free fieldwork experience.

Point Cloud Model Playback and Fusion

Following the operation, the 3D point cloud model can be directly accessed and viewed within the album. Furthermore, it's possible to merge 3D point cloud models from multiple flights, facilitating on-site assessments of operational quality.

PPK Solution

In challenging operational settings, users have the option to establish RTK base stations prior to the operation, proactively mitigating potential RTK data loss caused by interference, video transmission disruptions, or other challenges. Following the operation, original files can be imported into DJI Terra to leverage the PPK (post-processing kinematic) technique, reconstructing high-precision models.

Streamlined One-Click Processing with DJI Terra

Attain efficient and dependable one-stop post-processing by seamlessly importing point cloud data into DJI Terra. With a single click, generate a standardized 3D point cloud model following point cloud trajectory calculation and accuracy optimization. Utilizing the Ground Point Type for ground point classification, you can produce a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Additionally, point cloud quality assessment is made possible through the Accuracy Control and Check function.
