DJI has just announced the newest addition to their renowned Ronin series named the Ronin-S Compact (SC), a 3-Axis single-handed gimbal designed for mirrorless cameras. Its updated design offers users a highly compact and portable gimbal system made with high-quality materials and advanced technology. With a focus on being light, small, and travel-friendly while still not sacrificing on performance and intelligent functions, the Ronin-SC is made to unleash the full potential of your creative imagination.
The Ronin-SC was designed to be as travel-friendly, easy to use, and as portable as possible, weighing in at only 2.4 lbs. The Ronin-SC is about 40% lighter and 38% smaller than the Ronin-S and can be easily taken apart to store compactly in cases and backpacks. The reduced size and weight make the Ronin-SC easy to transport and reduces fatigue when used over long periods of time.
Using materials including aluminum, steel, composite plastic and magnesium, the Ronin-SC features an extremely durable build that will endure even the roughest use. Its high-grade motors can support up to 4.4 lbs while also featuring a battery life of up to 11 hours. After considering the feedback from the Ronin-SC, DJI redesigned the Ronin-SC to feature 3-Axis locks on the pan, roll, and tilt axis which makes balancing the camera much easier. Also, the Ronin-SC is designed with a new position lock system. Once the gimbal is balanced, it only takes seconds to remount the camera and get to work so that you never miss a shot.
Like the Ronin-S, users can control the gimbal movement with a joystick and conveniently access different gimbal settings and modes with the use of the front trigger button and the Mode (M) button.

The Ronin-SC features a wide variety of intelligent advanced functions and shooting modes to help users easily capture stunning, dynamic footage. With the newly redesigned Ronin App, users can create 3 different profiles adjust different settings, and run balance tests to ensure their camera system is set up properly. Movements like the 360 roll can be saved into the custom profiles, as well as Sports Mode for fast-paced scenes. The Ronin-SC features the same intelligent modes as the Ronin-S but also includes new shooting modes including ActiveTrack 3.0 and Force Mobile.
The new Force Mobile, which is similar to Force Pro, easily synchronizes the movement of your connected mobile phone with the Ronin-SC gimbal for an ultra-immersive filming experience. By simply rotating and tilting your smartphone, you can control the Ronin-SC's movement for more expressive and intuitive shots. In addition, with its new Bluetooth 5.0 connection, users can control gimbal movement at a distance of up to 82 feet.
DJI's patented ActiveTrack technology has for the first time been incorporated into the Ronin series with the Ronin-SC. With this mode, users can easily maintain a steady shot of their subject. New deep learning algorithms and optimized calculations for human figures enhance the ActiveTrack mode experience and enable the Ronin-SC to easily and accurately follow selected subjects in frame. This mode can be accessed by using the Ronin-SC Phone Holder to attach a smartphone above the camera with the Ronin app.
More intelligent shooting modes include Timelapse, Motionlapse, Panorama, Motion Control, and 3D Roll 360. With Timelapse, users can create stunning Timelapses and adjust various settings including clips, frames per second, and intervals. In Motionlapse, operators can add an element of movement into their creations. Motion Control enables users to set up unique movement paths that can be reused at any time. Panorama Mode will automatically capture panoramas in multiple columns or rows and control the size of the Panorama. Finally, with 360 Roll operators can rotate the yaw axis freely when the camera is being moved, for stunningly unique and dynamic shots.
